1) Risk of Heart Disease
Obesity increases your risks for coronary heart disease. The CDC points out that when the amount of an individual’s body mass increases, so does the risk for coronary heart disease (CHD). An individual suffering from CHD has plaque build up in the arteries, which will reduce blood flow to the heart. This often leads to chest pain, which is known as angina, and can even lead to a heart attack. If obesity causes the heart to have problems pumping enough blood to meet the body’s needs and demands, it can lead to heart failure. CHD and heart failure can both result in the premature death of the patient.
